The popular round that was first made in 1896 is a cartridge that still has value to shooters and still has many guns around that shoot the cartridge. It was originally produced as an answer to the unusually inaccurate .32 Long’s performance. It was successful until the .38 Special took off and saturated the market. Today it is used as a match shooting cartridge for high end guns that competitors in the ISSF 25 meter centerfire competitions use a lot of. The other use is for older, almost ancient firearms that are still in service for collectors and enthusiasts. Many of the break top and hand ejector models made by Smith & Wesson and made in the last century are popular still. This is a round that fits for those needs. It’s not the standard high accuracy wadcutter load used in the ISSF shoots, but it does fit the needs of users of the older relics that still want to work with the guns.
